Health Coaching in the Press

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  How were your meals?  Do you have any nutritious takes on traditional recipes that you would be willing to share with the rest of us?  I personally ate way too much and am trying to detox this week!

The importance of health coaching has made some headlines recently, with everyone from Women’s Health Magazine to Well + Good NYC sharing its importance.  I wanted to share the Well + Good NYC article, “The Coming of the Health Coach Revolution,” with you, particularly because it stresses the significance of health coaching in today’s healthcare industry.

The below image from Women’s Health also highlights how a health coach can help one lead a more balanced, healthy lifestyle.

Have you ever seen a health coach?  If so, what did you think?  Did you find it helpful?  Please share your thoughts!

Healthy Happenings

Hi, everyone, and happy Hump Day!  Do you know why its an exciting week?!  Because on Monday, I officially began the Health Coach Training Program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN).  What does the program entail?  Well, it is an eleven month online program with a curriculum that addresses over 100 dietary theories, counseling techniques, and business training.  What specifically drew me to IIN’s program is the holistic approach that it takes when it comes to health and wellness.  At the end, I will be qualified to become a certified Health Coach through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, an independent professional association for holistic healthcare professionals.

I’m not quite sure what I’ll do with my certification (I’ve got a year to think about it), but I am eager to apply what I will be learning regarding nutrition to my personal lifestyle and dietary habits.  Also, as part of my training, I will begin completing health histories halfway through the program, during which I will need some willing participants to work with me!

IIN package arrived in the mail!

Full of goodies!

I also began teaching Reformer Pilates classes at Exhale Pilates Studio this week!  I’ll be teaching there 2-3 mornings per week while one of the owners is out on maternity leave.  I am thrilled to be in their studio more often, as well as to get to know all of their wonderful clients!

On another note, learn how to brighten someone’s day by reading my most recent blog post, “Make Someone’s Day,” for The Zesty Digest for Sweet Lemon Magazine.

And one last thing, be on the look out for an exciting announcement regarding my first giveaway before the end of the week!

Hope you all have a great rest of the week!  Oh yeah, and happy Halloween!
